1) How to Write and Publish a Study Protocol

In this module you will cover:

  • The importance of research protocols
  • Writing tips for protocols
  • Guidance on developing and writing clinical trial protocols
  • Journal policies on clinical trial protocols
  • Guidance on publishing other types of study protocols

2) Introduction to Randomized Blinded Trials – produced in collaboration with the University of California San Francisco

At the end of this module you will be able to:

  • Define randomized blinded trials
  • Explain how to design RBTs
  • Describe how to choose the intervention and control conditions
  • Evaluate approaches to randomizing and blinding
  • Describe how to define outcomes and adverse effects

Once completed, you will receive a formal recognition with a certificate from The BMJ.

Eligibility is open to Australian Fellows and trainees of the RACP, its Divisions, Faculties and Chapters who are enrolled in, or about to enrol in a research higher degree (Masters, PhD or equivalent), are without stipend.

Networking evening with leading diabetes researcher

The Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute (IHMRI) is inviting you to a Networking Evening next Monday (17 August) with leading diabetes researcher, Associate Professor Jonathan Shaw, from Melbourne’s Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute.

A/Prof Shaw will discuss the major complications of diabetes and draw on the institute’s 14-year “AusDiab” study with 11,000 Australians, as well as other epidemiological studies, to consider whether progress is being made in preventing these complications from reaching severe end-stage forms.
