Green Mining 2013

The School of Civil, Mining and Environmental Engineering (CME) through its Centre for Infrastructure Protection and Mining Safety, has successfully co-hosted the 6th International Symposium on Green Mining with the State Key Laboratory of Coal Resources and Safe Mining, China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT).

The symposium was officially opened by Professor Paul Wellings, the Vice Chancellor of UOW and Professor Ge Shirong, President of CUMT. The symposium attracted more than 120 delegates from Australia, China and Poland.

Headed by Professor Ge, CUMT sent a strong delegation of more 30 top professors and researchers to this event. In addition to overseas delegates, the symposium attracted Australian participants from CSIRO, CRC Mining, University of Queensland, Monash University, RMIT Univeristy and major coal operators including Peabody Energy, Glencore Xstrata, BHP Billiton.

The symposium received more than 90 submissions of which 60 high quality papers were all peer-reviewed and included in the proceedings published by CUMT. The symposium featured a solid 2-days technical program with 40 technical presentations, social networking opportunities (Welcome Reception and Conference Dinner) and two post-conference visits (Metropolitan Mine and Mines Rescue Services).

The symposium was sponsored by Shenhua Australia, Diao Group, CAMDA, DADI (Australia) Engineering and EnviroCon Australia, and supported by Peabody Energy, Coal Services and the AusIMM.
