Human Rights Research

The Centre for Critical Human Rights Research brings together humanities and social science researchers interested in exploring the meaning of human rights and human security for individuals, institutions, communities and regions. Core themes are the intellectual history of human rights, the history of the institutions of global governance, the role of cultural representation in imagining alternative futures, and the culture and practices of human rights advocacy. Our work focuses on local case studies and sites, with a recognition of their regional and global embeddedness, and a commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary and community-engaged research.
